It's being predicted that this coming summer will be the season of the short. Girls are reinterpreting shorts in fresh ways; in lace, leather, tweed, and neons-- even short suits. I came across this image in the Zara lookbook the other day, and I got all excited inside! Really, what better time for the skort to make its way back onto the scene than now? Think about it. Sporty is in.
When I was a kid, I loved skorts! They gifted me the freedom to ride my bike, go on the swings, and jump rope all while maintaining a measure of modesty. When I wore a skort, I felt sporty, but I still felt like a girl. I don't think the rest of the world is on board yet, considering that nearly every online shopping site I searched "skort" on immediately corrected my search term to "skirt." But I did find a few in addition to my Zara inspiration-- a draped pocketed version on sale, a little scalloped lace number, an elegantly-wrapped taffeta take on the trend, and a stylish, structured edition by Tibi.

So, I never thought I'd say this, but I want to bring back the skort. Who's with me? :)
